This is generally a whimsical action story, but it does involve past war trauma, a dystopian government that tattoos citizen's necks, character death, and a half-demonic antagonist who cuts off people's faces (and that's if he LIKES you). All of this happens offscreen.
Also, Jane Eyre is treated as a great love story of our ages and Edward Rochester as a stand-up guy, so the ableism of Bertha Rochester does indeed come up. (Bertha DOES end up being the one who is instrumental in the takedown of the villain, though.)
