This is a Vertigo comic from the 80s, so expect nudity and bloody comic book violence. Also disturbing and surrealist imagery out the wazoo, plus animal cruelty (to butterflies), sexual abuse and rape, dysfunctional relationships, pregnancy, and sexual imagery (Rebis spends a good amount of time fucking, impregnating, and giving birth to themself). There's also some antiblack racism, internalized from Joshua which becomes personified due to realitymashing shenanigans, a really stereotypical depiction of the character of Frenzy, and regular references to one of Rebis's people, Eleanor Poole, as a sort of alchemical opposite as a black woman to Larry Trainor's white masculinity, which is icky.
Crazy Jane is stated to have been abused badly in childhood, and at least one headmate has committed suicide in the past; these things are alluded to, but aren't explicit, while a rape they suffered in adulthood is bloodier. Also, it is stated that Crazy Jane is only able to function as well as she does because of the "sacrifice" of trauma-holding headmates, who are kept isolated from the others so "we can't hear them screaming." While the system over time deals with a lot of their baggage and reject integration, the whole "sacrifice" angle is never brought up again. Sadly, Morrison's Doom Patrol has a lot of character bits brought up that are never fully dealt with.
