This story takes place in the 1940s, and has time-era-appropriate homophobia, including institutionalization of lesbians. The angels are also NOT necessarily good. The girlfriend's angelic headmate does leave her in the end, but in a way that is appropriate and satisfies them both. Heavy Christian themes, which are intended to be questioned.
